Year 2 Paraliturgy

Reflections from the Year 2s :
“ I felt that the seeking for forgiveness from my classmates and writing a letter to my future self , allowed me to maintain the bonds with my classmates who I may have wronged before and see how I had grown up after 2 years when I see the letter in Year 4 again ”. Aiden Lau MN203
FN202-Setting the stage
The Foundation Programme Academy held a paraliturgy for the Year Two Josephians on 22 October to mark the end of their Foundation years . The paraliturgy based on the theme “ Looking back in gratitude , Looking forward with Hope ” helped students to reflect on their experiences in Years One and Two and to appreciate the lessons they had learnt from them . Their facilitators , the Form Tutors also guided them in an exercise in which both Form Tutors and their students sought forgiveness for times when they may have offended or hurt one another . The aim of this exercise was to help the class community reconcile its differences , affirm each member and to help everyone move forward with joy into Years Three and Four . Each student also expressed his hopes and dreams by writing a personal letter to himself . The letters were sealed and will be held in safekeeping , which will only be opened during the Year Four Paraliturgy in 2022 .
“ I was able to thank my friends and apologize to those whom I may have hurt . The exercise also helped to resolve the “ unfinished business ” in my class . I also was able to identify and “ lock ” certain memories in my head for the past 2 years to remember forever ”. Rahul Singaram Senthilkumar LE202
“ To be able to reconcile with the people we may have hurt throughout the past two years . It was also a good exercise to reflect on the good and bad things we experienced in Year 1 and 2 ”. Callum Tang MN203
“ The key takeaway was definitely the strings being cut , like cutting away the negativity between the everyone ”. Keith Young MN203
“ It allowed me to reflect deeper into the experiences from the past two years and realize my mistakes ”. Thirumalpathi Thishan FN202
“ I learnt that forgiving and forgetting makes us a much happier person as we would not need to carry that weight of guilt anymore knowing that you have admitted to your mistake and both parties have moved on ”. Aloysius Ong MN203
“ I should spend more time reflecting on my actions and should appreciate my family and friends more ”. Lucas Lee LE201
