Kwong Jon ( LE606 )

Kwong Jon is an insightful thinker and communicator , showing keen interest to learn and probe issues when contributing to class discussions . A principled person , he seeks continuous improvements in all that he does and adopts good consistent studying habits . A naturally pious individual , Kwong Jon was Prayer leader in 2017 and took on the role as Class Chairman in 2018 .
Kwong Jon has proven to be an integral member of the wider SJI Community by heavily involving himself with his Creativity , Action , Service ( CAS ) Activities . He never hesitates to venture out of his comfort zone and is always keen to learn new skills to better himself . During his secondary school days , he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Military Band and represented the school at the 2017 Singapore Youth Festival in which he and his team were awarded a Distinction . He was also President of the Legion of Mary and organized the Year 1 Catholic Camp in 2018 . He has shown exceptional leadership potential and is able to work with people from all walks of life .
Apart from PRISM , he enjoyed his time in Ultimate Frisbee . Even though he had no prior experience or skills with the sport , he took it up with an open mind and trained fervently with his team . As an Anchor Orientation Group leader during the Orientation Camp 2020 , he showcased his keen leadership skills by leading his juniors and forming a strong rapport with them over the course of the week . Kwong Jon expanded his global awareness through the Global Education Programme in November 2019 when he travelled to Cambodia . The group improved the sanitation for the villagers and he immersed himself fully in the culture there . In view of Kwong Jon ’ s significant contributions and exemplary conduct , he was a proud recipient of the Distinguished Lasallian Service Award 2020 .
Kwong Jon has unequivocally left a positive impression on everybody in SJI . His peers and teachers hold him in high regard as an individual with utmost morals .
As the head of PRISM , SJI ’ s social enterprise , he learnt to work with members who had diverse opinions . During his time in PRISM , one of the more notable competitions was the Citi-YMCA Youth for Causes competition where his team partnered with Bone Marrow Donor Programme to raise funds and awareness for their cause which aims to aid those suffering from Leukemia and Lymphoma to find a willing bone marrow donor . Additionally , he spearheaded the planning with the Ronald McDonald House Charities , who provide living facilities for parents whose children have been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit .
