Nguyen Pham Minh Quan ( LE402 )

During the two years that he was with the school , Quan distinguished himself as an exemplary student who displayed remarkable resilience and who took all work and responsibility seriously . Polite , trustworthy , responsible and gracious , he epitomises many ideals of the true Josephian . Also caring and helpful , Quan would willingly lend a helping hand and a listening ear to anyone in need . His good natured and responsible attitude has won him the respect of his teachers and peers .
Quan ’ s capacity for methodical and logical thinking is reflected in his consistent good performance in subjects such as Mathematics and the Sciences . He does not yield to any setbacks or challenges , but sees them as opportunities to improve himself . More importantly , he gives his best to any task and is always working to improve himself . These traits helped him achieve Silver at the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad 2019 ( Senior and Open Section ), Distinction at the Australian Mathematics Competition 2019 ( Year 9 ), Honourable Mention at the Singapore Junior Physics Olympiad 2019 , Honourable Mention at the Junior Biology Olympiad 2019 and Distinction at the Singapore Youth Physicists Tournament 2020 .
Quan is people-centred . His Form Tutor , Mrs Lorraine Vastel , notes , “ A humble and unassuming servant leader , Quan takes it upon himself to look after his peers in class . He is always respectful to his teachers and is well-loved by his peers .”
For his community , Quan readily dedicated his time and effort in a number of events . In particular , he assisted in the Potong Pasir St Andrew ’ s Village Christmas Celebration , organized and supervised Wheel Walk or Jog and the Family Carnival . He also helped his schoolmates in Mathematics and Science as a Peer Tutor . Beyond school , he was part of the organizing committee of Bây GiÒ Tính , a student initiated programme in Vietnam where he planned and conducted a one-day workshop on skills needed for studying abroad .
Quan has been his teachers ’ pride and joy . He possesses an impressive sense of social awareness and a great sense of responsibility . Given his perseverance and commitment to the Lasallian ideals , he is certainly a worthy recipient of the Lasallian Distinguished Service Award .
An enthusiastic and dedicated member of the St John Brigade , he displayed good team spirit . He was actively involved in many activities and rose to the rank of Sergeant in 2020 . His sense of commitment and energy enabled him to organize and run activities for his juniors . His leadership skills were further displayed in his role as Class Vice-Chairman ( 2019 and 2020 ), Peer Support Facilitator ( 2019 and 2020 ) and Executive Committee of the Green Club .
