Premshan Christopher Singh ( ML401 )

Premshan Christopher Singh is a servant leader who shows strong sense of selfless service to the SJI community . He is ever ready to lend a helping hand to his peers and teachers and displays a strong sense of commitment in his areas of interest . A sensible young man with a gentle temperament , he is well-respected by his peers especially for his thoughtfulness and helpful nature .
Mr Ron Tok , his Form and Chinese Language Tutor , remarks , “ Christopher has distinguished himself as an exemplary student . True to the spirit of a Josephian , he never hesitates to go the extra mile to render assistance to others . He leads with passion and this is especially seen in the way he interacts with those who work with him . ”
Throughout his four years in National Police Cadet Corps ( NPCC ), Christopher was an active and highly committed member who took part in numerous parades , drills and competitions . A Staff Sergeant and Field Instructor in NPCC , he was second in command for the Year 4 and Year 1 Squad . He planned the weekly training programmes for both Squads and the Physical Training activities for the whole unit . He also represented NPCC as the emcee for SJI ’ s Anniversary Parade in 2018 and Contingent Commander in the parade in 2019 .
Christopher displayed strong leadership qualities and organizational skills in his various capacities and discharged his responsibilities seriously and with pride . He was a Peer Support Leader ( PSL ) who led his juniors on the Adventure Camp Expedition ( ACE ). He was also a Student Councillor incharge of the planning and execution of the 2019 Student Leaders ’ Investiture , Teacher ’ s Day Celebrations 2019 and the Year 4 Graduation Dinner 2019 .
Ms Wong Kah Yan , Teacher Mentor of the Student Council adds , “ Christopher is an earnest and sincere young man who puts the well-being of others first . This was evident in the way he reached out to his juniors in Year 2 and 3 to share his experience as a senior , whether as a Student Councilor or as a ACE Peer Support Facilitator .”
As a Prefect in 2018 and 2019 , he executed and led the Prefectorial Board ’ s Anti-Bullying Campaign . He conscientiously carried out all these duties in spite of his heavy academic workload and active involvement in his Co-Curricular Activities , NPCC and SJI Legion of Mary . As the Vice-President of the SJI Legion of Mary ( 2019 to 2020 ), he was responsible for developing fellowship and the organization of retreats and camps . He was also involved in various out-reach programmes , one of which was volunteering at the St Theresa ’ s Home .
Despite Christopher ’ s numerous responsibilities , he sets high academic targets . A self- directed learner , he grasps complex concepts with relative ease . His Form and Mathematics Tutor , Ms Tan Hui Fang notes , “ Christopher is very attentive during lessons . A keen and conscientious learner , he is undaunted by setbacks and meets challenges in his stride . He will attempt to do his best to understand by questioning without undermining his respect for the person .” Regardless of his various leadership appointments , Christopher remains humble and rooted in his values . His empathy allows him to seek common ground with those in need . He truly embodies the Josephian spirit of being a Man for Others . Given his service to the community and generosity in spirit , Christopher is a worthy recipient of the Lasallian Distinguished Service Award .
