CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ( CCA ) & CREATIVITY ACTIVITY AND SERVICE ( CAS )

The Coding and Technology CAS introduced students to Arduino programming and 3D printing . Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software intended for anyone making interactive projects . The Year 5 CAS members learned about Arduino from the workshops conducted by their seniors ( Year 6 students ) and assisted by the teacher-incharge .
After mastering Arduino programming , the Year 5 CAS students conducted a workshop for the Year 3 Josephians . During the workshop , they shared their knowledge and passion about making interactive projects with their younger peers .

The Year 5 CAS students visited Singapore University of Technology and Design ( SUTD ) to learn about Computer-Aided Design ( CAD ). They were taught how to use Autodesk Fusion 360 to create digital models . The finale of the workshop was the opportunity for them to observe 3D printers in action .
The students also attended a workshop conducted by SUTD on Python programming . Python is a general-purpose programming language . Through this workshop , the students learned to use Python for developing scientific and numeric applications .
Dr Pek also introduced the basics of 3D printing and the operations of a 3D printer in SJI , and the students explored the printing of their digital models . Along the journey , they learnt about the best practices to get from a computeraided model to the 3D artefact .
After mastering the programming skills and 3D printing techniques , the CAS students conducted a workshop for Secondary 3 students from CHIJ .
