Throughout 2018 , the Beacon CAS organised several service activities for the student population . All CAS members were offered both ad hoc and long term opportunities that they could commit to . In March , the CAS organised its first event - a bake sale - to raise funds for its upcoming projects . The students met up in their own time to prepare their baked goods such as brownies and double chocolate chip cookies to sell to their schoolmates .
During the June holidays , a small group of students volunteered to raise funds for SPCA at their annual flag day . They went to various locations around the island in 4 hours , to collect donations from the public while also raising awareness for SPCA .

A group of individuals also visited the Riding for the Disabled Association ( RDA ) to aid disabled children in their weekly equine-assisted therapy sessions . The group committed their Tuesdays and Wednesdays to the RDA in Term 3 , and in Term 4 , two students were there every day from Tuesday to Friday . These students had the chance to directly impact the lives of the children as they walked alongside and encouraged them throughout each session , watching as they progressively became more comfortable with the activity over the weeks .
The CAS also held another bake sale to raise funds for a teacher Dr Koh Chee Yeong as he undergoes medical treatment . The six groups of students went around school selling food like cake pops and cookies , and through the generosity of our peers and teachers , they raised a total of $ 427 , which was given to Dr Koh .
