JOSEPHIAN ANNUAL 2016 • DIARY OF EVENTS 73
End-Of-Year Thanksgiving Assembly
26 OCTOBER 2016
2016 has been a memorable year for us all . Our Thanksgiving Ceremony on 26 October marked the end of our relocation to the Bishan holding campus . For three years , this was a place we called home , a place where we learned , made friends and cherished precious memories . The campus may not have been as spacious as the one in Malcolm Road , but Josephians continued to live and breathe the Lasallian spirit in this holding school .
The celebration was of grand proportions as we sang familiar songs such as “ We Are Lasallian ” and “ St Joseph ’ s Call ”. Friar Michael ’ s prayer service resonated deeply with the students , giving closure to something that students and staff have come to experience , enjoy and love . It truly allowed Josephians to look back and reflect upon significant memories over the few years within the campus and allowed us to greatly appreciate the campus not just as a temporary holding site but as a second home .
The school colours were drawn , carried in by the various Uniformed Groups . The statue of St Joseph was gently carried down from the library to the amphitheatre . Many were moved and expressed their awe , admiration and amazement by this symbolic move of the statue to mark our closure at Bishan and our impending return to Malcolm Road . The celebration concluded with “ Hail , Hail , Alma Mater ” and a resplendent spectacle of polychromatic balloons descending on the crowd from above .
The stay at the Bishan holding campus , though short-lived was neither lacking in fond memories nor underappreciated . Rather , it brought Josephians closer , raised the Josephian spirit higher and strengthened further the Lasallian spirit . The Bishan campus will always remain dear in all our hearts and fondly in our memories !
