JOSEPHIAN ANNUAL 2016 • PRINCIPAL ’ S MESSAGE 3

They learnt how to live , which is equally as important for us in SJI as we focus on teaching all our students how to learn . A Learning Festival provided our lower secondary students with opportunities to pursue their interests and talents and to learn , especially outside the classroom , through play . It was a delight to see so many of them dressed up as their favourite book characters and share their love for reading .
We ended this year with much to be thankful for . In particular , we are thankful for our second cohort of IBDP graduates at our Senior section and our Secondary 4 students who achieved outstanding results this year in the IBDP examinations and GCE ‘ O ’ level examinations respectively . We are proud that they have excelled academically .
I am especially thankful for our teachers and admin support staff who have given so much of themselves , once again , this year to provide the quality Catholic Lasallian education for our students . I believe
it is their care and love for our students that are the reasons why they continue to make the distinctive difference in every Josephian ' s life and in our community ' s wellbeing .
At our End-of-Year Thanksgiving Assembly , we processed the statue of St Joseph out of our assembly area . It was a poignant moment as this marked the end of SJI ’ s three year stay at the Bishan holding campus . We leave with many endearing and cherished memories of our time here . Now our sights are turned towards our redeveloped campus at Malcolm Road . As we return home next year , we aspire to make true what those two new classroom blocks high above SJI direct our hopes towards – continuing to be a school standing tall and proud , shining for all to see and behold as only SJI can .
