Global Education Programme

80 JC1 students embarked on a seven day overseas expedition during the last week of Term 2 as part of the Global Education Programme . In line with the SJI Lasallian and IB missions , the programme aims to develop active global citizens who will be a catalyst for change and to make a difference to the world . The trips provided opportunities for intercultural understanding , physical challenges and community engagement and service . Five expeditions were planned to the following places ; Sabah , Lombok , Siem Reap , Vietnam and Perth . Each expedition focuses on a global issue and the students selected their destinations based on the global issue of their interest . Most of the students shared in their reflections that the trips were a learning journey both to discover themselves and the communities they interacted with . They felt that they received more than they gave to the communities . To many , it was a humbling experience .
