History of SJI Pelandok Scouts
SJI Pelandok Scouts is proud to be the oldest surviving Scout Unit in Singapore , and the 4th oldest Scout unit . It was started in 1911 when the first scoutmaster , Brother Gordian , applied for a warrant from the Scouts Association to start a troop in SJI with 25 scouts . The unit grew over the next 103 years . Eventually , another unit was created , the Hippo Scouts , to cater to growing demand , which moved to SJI International after it was established . SJI Scouts proudly celebrated their centenary in 2011 . We hope that we can create more outstanding history for many more years to come .
EVENTS 2013-2014
Sec 1 investiture The entrance to a scouting life is a formal and serious one . The investment represents not only of the commitment the scout has to make to God and his nation , but also of the responsibility of the Patrol Leader and the faith the Patrol Leader has in the scout . This marks a new beginning in the life of the scout , where he will start to fully participate and have fun in the activities .
The venue of the investiture was the auditorium to give a serious but familiar and safe atmosphere to the start . The Scout Promise acts as a breakaway , to show that the scout will learn to be independent , to survive . Parents were invited to witness this occasion . In all , this is the start , the beginning , the entry to the life of a scout .

Scouts and Guides Campfires A campfire is an old sign of human gathering that even today its power to signal community is undiminished . The light and the warmth and smell of a campfire gather people in . Yearly , many different schools invite the Pelandok Scout Group to join them at their school for campfire . The scouts will participate in games , skits and cheering sessions along the course of the campfire .
