Achievements
Starting as a small and humble unit in 1971 , the SJI National Police Cadet Corps ( NPCC ) has slowly grown and evolved over the many years it has spent as a Uniformed Group ( UG ) in SJI . Although NPCC is the second youngest UG in SJI , it has proven itself to be extremely accomplished , achieving various awards of excellence over the years . In 2013 , the SJI NPCC has yet again proudly received the Gold Award for the Unit Overall Proficiency Award ( UOPA ) for its 4th consecutive year . Not only that , four of our most highly skilled and outstanding cadets have been awarded the pinnacle Singapore Police Force – NPCC Badge , in recognition of their contributions and dedication to the unit . Though with a size of only 100 cadets , the SJI NPCC is just as exceptional as the other UGs , soaring to greater heights , achieving greater goals and more importantly , bringing pride to SJI and the Corps .

Campcraft Competition Held every 2 years , cadets are required to build the best tent , flag and gadget within 10 minutes . As soon as the horn – which signifies the beginning of the competition – was blown , teams from hundreds of schools burst into a state of frenzy as everyone got to work with their individual tasks . With only 10 minutes , teamwork is essential in order to achieve the best results . However , the weeks and months leading up to the competition were truly the defining moments of what it means to be in NPCC . Getting dirty during training while working tirelessly for hours and learning how to work as a team are times that the cadets will never forget . Detractors may not see the benefits of the rigour of the training or competition , but cadets will know that it teaches them something found only in this UG – determination .
Project Scubillion For Project Scubillion , SJI NPCC was involved in MY Big Sweep , an activity that was done in collaboration with Metropolitan YMCA Singapore ( MYMCA ). MY Big Sweep aimed to improve the living conditions of the destitute , elderly and needy families through the cleaning of their homes . We also learned about their experiences by interacting with them . Our beneficiaries lived in the Macpherson area and many of
Cadets after a unit CIP for Project Scubillion them were physically weak and unable to maintain basic home cleanliness . Determined to make a difference , the cadet participants were split into several groups . Each group had to clean one house per day for about three hours over a span of two days . It was truly an eye-opening experience for many cadets who had never faced such difficulties or understood the plight of the needy . This activity is truly meaningful and enriching .
Training Camps Every year , Secondary 2 and 3 NPCC cadets will attend at least two training camps – the Unit Training Camp ( UTC ) which is organised by the Cadet Leaders of the Unit , as well as the Adventure Training Camp ( ATC ) for Secondary 2 cadets and the Survival Training Camp ( STC ) for Secondary 3 cadets . The primary objectives of the Unit Training Camp were to instil a sense of discipline and responsibility in the cadets , and
