VOCAL ENSEMBLE
The SJI Vocal Ensemble has always been a highperforming yet fun-filled CCA . 2013 has been an exciting year of bonding camps and workshops , concerts , performances and more importantly , the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation . This exciting and eventful year has certainly given the Vocal Ensemble members precious memories that they will treasure for life .

SYF and Mutien There were high expectations on the SJI Vocal Ensemble to do well for this year ’ s SYF , considering that they had an exceptional showing in their inaugural SYF two years ago . The members went through months of arduous preparation in order to get themselves into top form , rehearsing for hours every week , sometimes squeezing in time before morning assembly to meet and prepare themselves musically and mentally . In addition to the set piece “ Singapore Our Home ”, the Vocal Ensemble performed a Latin piece “ Beati Mortui ” and a Haitian composition “ N ’ ap Debat ”, garnering high praises

Following their strong showing at SYF , the Vocal Ensemble performed at Mutien Festival , showcasing their SYF pieces to the school population . Members who had graduated turned up in full force to congratulate their juniors on their SYF achievements . The concert was without doubt a huge success .
Eucharistic Celebrations Faithful to the tradition of the choir , the SJI Vocal Ensemble was present at every major mass in SJI , such as Founder ’ s Day and Teachers ’ Day , leading the school in praise and worship through hymns and songs , contributing to the richness of catholic life in SJI . Through these celebrations , the members learnt the value of thanksgiving and humility in service .
St Theresa ’ s Home performance One of the most unforgettable events of the year was the performance at St Theresa ’ s Home to celebrate the Lunar New Year . The members volunteered for this meaningful activity to bring festive cheer to the elderly at the home , singing a couple of familiar tunes to them and helping the caregivers to distribute food to the residents . The residents ’ youthful spirit was clearly seen as they sang along with the Teresa Teng classic , “ The Moon Represents My Heart ”.
