Our Mission And Work
Our founder of the Society of Saint Vincent De Paul ( SSVP ), St Vincent De Paul , once said ,‘ To love is to serve the poor .’ The members of SSVP certainly exemplify the virtues by serving the poor and by being men for others through the many various activities organized with the aim of reaching out to the community .
Working With St Theresa ’ s Home One of the core activities throughout this year had been the regular visits to St Theresa ’ s Home . Members have been companions to the residents in the home , spending time conversing with them , playing games and often providing them a listening ear . During the Chinese New Year Tea Party and Concert organised by the SSVP , the elderly were treated to the cultural performances by the different cultural societies from SJI . SSVP also organised various fund raising activities for the home via drink sales during inter-class competitions .
Reaching Out To The School Community Within the school community , SSVP has always remained steadfast in helping needy Josephians through the SJI pocket money which provides monthly food and transport allowance . Funds were raised through the Ang Bow contributions by students and teachers during Chinese New Year .
