Group Structure 2013 Band Mistress : Ms Melissa Yam Assistant Band Mistresses : Ms Adeline Ng Ms Carin Tham Ms Faith Ahino Assistant Band Masters : Mr Sirhan Ahmadiah Band Director : Mr Darence Leng Assistant Band Director : Mdm Yue Ai Chuan hearts that all the time and effort spent , all the sweat and tears , all boils down to this very moment .
As the band raised their well-polished instruments , Mr Darence Leng , the conductor , gave them a final smile and wished them good luck . The band swiftly graced themselves through the melody and the music and shaped it so well that the level of concentration was intense . The band pumped in every ounce of energy that they had and played their hearts out . This was the time to 6 show the spirit of the SJIMB . As the band pounded on every note , shaped the music and expressed every emotion intended , it was the best performance they had ever put up . The countless trainings and hardship paid off at last . As the band played
5 their last note , the crowd cheered and the judges were smiling . The mighty men of the SJIMB had shown it and they knew it . It was simply splendid .
The band received the Certificate of Distinction and the expression on each and every bandsman says it all : shock , disbelief , and most of all , joy ! This was definitely a memorable experience to both the teachers and conductors , who gave their utmost support and guided the band throughout the journey , and to the bandsmen , who were able to reap the fruit of their labour and bring glory to the school .
Mutien Festival The Mutien Festival is a biennial concert showcasing the Aesthetic and Performing Arts Co-Curricular Activities ( CCA ) groups ’ performance for the Singapore Youth Festival ( SYF ). This year , the SJI Military Band , which has achieved Distinction for their SYF 2013 , performed in SJI ’ s PAC on the 26th of May . In the days leading up to the concert , the band was in a bustle practicing their pieces , including learning a new song for a 3rd piece , The Lion King .
