Annual Parade The 160th Anniversary Parade saw the Secondary Four bandsmen march past for a last time before they graduate from the school . This parade saw the fruition of the efforts that the bandsmen have put in over the year . Being a band rich in tradition , the presentation of the mace from the outgoing Drum Major , Jonathan Kwok ( 432 ), to incoming Drum Major , Ong Han Yang ( 331 ) was a highlight of the parade . The handing over of the mace symbolizes the responsibility of the new leader to embrace the qualities that have been passed down by generations of leaders .

Band Music Exchange with Hwa Chong Institution On 1st September 2012 , our bandsmen had a band exchange with Hwa Chong Institution school band , who shared the same music director as us . The aim of the exchange was for bandsmen from both schools to learn from each other ’ s band culture as well as sharing of musical skills . The sectional practice on the piece ‘ Blue Ridge Saga ’, which would be performed as a group , enabled further bonding between both schools .
The combined performance turned out beautiful as both schools had good synergy . Before leaving , both schools also played “ The Lion King ”, one of our favourite pieces . When it was time to say goodbye , the bandsmen exchanged gifts and contact numbers , in hope of keeping in contact for future exchanges .
Indeed the aims of the exchange were achieved as the bandsmen benefitted from the exposure to a different culture and operational system of another school ’ s band . They were also able to compare their standards to other school ’ s bandsmen , and learn from them in order to improve their playing techniques .
