Lasallian Leadership Training Camps ( LLTC )

The Lasallian Leadership Training Camps ( LLTC ) can trace its origins back to the early 1990s when the school saw the need for all her key student leaders to have the same foundation , which led to the Annual Leadership Training Camp ( ALTC ) being created . Over the years , the camp has evolved and developed in many ways , including the involvement of the other Lasallian secondary schools and the transformation of the programme from being a very skills-based one to one that is more principle-centred .

It is a prerequisite for all selected key student appointment holders of all Co- Curricular Activities to have completed LLTC . This is to ensure that all student leaders , who have such a strong influence on school culture , are inculcated with the school ’ s core values , understands and appreciates what it means to be Lasallian . The LLTCs are organised in collaboration with the two other Lasallian secondary schools in Singapore , namely SJI International and St Patrick ’ s School .

The 2012 version of the camp programme revolves around the ‘ what ’ and ‘ how ’ of Lasallian Leadership . The ‘ what ’ focuses on the Lasallian core values of Faith , Service & Community , while the ‘ how ’ is centred on the Student Leadership Challenge , which is a leadership model devised by leadership gurus , Kouzes and Posner . This model identifies the 5 Practices of Exemplary Leaders , which are ‘ Model the Way ’, ‘ Inspire a Shared Vision ’, ‘ Challenge the Process ’, ‘ Enable Others to Act ’ and ‘ Encourage the Heart ’.
The activities in the camp include workshop sessions , outdoor activities that include games , ropes course and dragon boating , service learning and experiential reflection . The camp concludes with a commissioning ceremony to send participants forth to be servant leaders to their class , CCA and school communities . The camp is seen not so much as an end in itself but rather as a start to their experience as a Lasallian leader . At the end of their secondary school life , they have the opportunity to leave with a Lasallian Leadership Award when they meet the requirements .
LLTC is also a learning experience for a number of selected Secondary Fours who serve as Organising Team ( OT ) members for the camp . As OT members , these Secondary Fours from all 3 schools collaborate closely to plan and deliver many of the activities of the camp . They are provided with training to be facilitators and also grow through mentoring by the staff as they organise the camp .
Student leaders gain valuable experience as they meet and network with student leaders from our other Lasallian schools . They also get to experience in a very real way that they do not only belong to one school but rather that they belong to an international family of schools that is the Lasallian family .
