The Power of Sleep
Kids need between nine and eleven
hours of uninterrupted sleep each
night. When kids do not get enough
sleep, they might feel grumpy, distracted, and/or bored. Not enough sleep can
lead to low energy, getting sick easily,
having lots of negative thoughts, and
feelings of hopelessness.
Suggestions for sleeping better: going
to bed and getting up at the same time
every day, getting exercise, eating
healthy, feeling safe and happy, and
sleeping in a dark room. Sleep can be hindered by not going to bed at the
same time every night, worrying about sleep, feeling fearful, sad, or angry,
stress, eating too much junk food, and pain. Everyone benefits from a full
night of sleep. Talk with your children to make sure they are feeling rested
and rejuvenated when they wake up in the morning.
