COMMUNICA | Issue Four Colleagues reach new heights with awards STAFFORD, UNITED KINGDOM - TWO colleagues have passed an Advanced Climbing and Tower Rescue as part of a plan to ensure John Henry Group can manage and deliver an overhead fibre maintenance solution. Phil Spriggs of John Henry Biscomm and Matt Street, John Henry Group’s training manager, both completed a gruelling and testing series of overhead pylon climbs and associated assessments, which means they are both now able to work on overhead fibre optic cables, wrapped around the earth wire at the top of power lines. Matt, who had to climb in excess of 60 feet during the training alongside Phil, said: “It was quite a daunting task to climb up that high. “You really do need to think about what you’re doing to actually get up there. “Initially this is not an enjoyable experience in training but the techniques are central to safe access and climbing. “This training will be vital in the field.” 8 | Rewarding excellence across the group UNITED KINGDOM - COLLEAGUES across the John Henry Group are now being rewarded for outstanding performances as part of a new initaitive launched in April. The Rewarding Excellence Initiative is a series of monthly awards which will now recognise colleagues who have ‘gone the extra mile on behalf of the business’ on a monthly basis. Each member of staff within the business has a vote, which they can use to vote for one colleague each month, with John Henry Group directors electing a winner from the nominations received. Winners receive a special Rewarding Excellence Certificate and vouchers of their choice as a thank you. “These awards are a fantastic way to say thanks to colleagues for everything they do and to recognise the hard work which is put into some very demanding contracts,” said John Henry Jnr, Company Director. “I’m really pleased with how well this award has been received by the business.” Each monthly winner is also now featured on a special plaque in John Henry Group’s head office in Longstanton. An annual champion, drawn from the 12 monthly winners, will receive a weekend away for two at a hotel and spa. The Rewarding Excellence Initiative is part of a year long plan to enhance internal communications and ‘people values’ within the John Henry Group. “These awards are a great way to say thanks to colleagues”
