Make a good impression
Make a strong impression on everyone you meet. That includes the receptionist
and anyone else you encounter along the way to the interview room. A job
interview starts from the moment you step through the company’s door.
Often, an interviewer will ask other personnel to offer their opinions about you
to see what you were like ‘outside’ of the interview room. This practice also
gives your panel a good indication as to what you would potentially be like to
work with in the team, if you were successful in getting the role.
Handshake
Make sure to give a good, firm handshake too! This demonstrates confidence!
No one likes a weak or even wet handshake, it’s not a good impression you want
to make. Ask a friend to help you practise shaking their hand. If your hands
sweat, ensure you dry them before you enter the interview room!
Building Rapport
Focus on building strong rapport with all of the interview panel members. You
need to convince them that you are the candidate that they are looking for.
Stand out from the other job candidates by using personal examples of evidence
when describing your achievements.
Use a variety of evidence that is current and no more than five years old.
