How to do well during an interview
Self-Assessment
Before your interview, assess your own body language. Rehearse your interview
answers whilst facing a mirror or in front of a video camera! Ask a friend to help
you identify any unusual habits or annoying behaviour such as hair-twirling or the
most common one for most people, repeating a word several times. For example,
saying “OK” or “Umm” at the end of each of your sentences!
Repeating a word to fill in the silences! – It’s really distracting!
This type of behaviour will make you look nervous to the panel and that you feel
uncomfortable or may not have the knowledge or experience to answer the
questions. It can also suggest that you have not prepared well for your interview
and will result in poor scoring.
The more you practise, the better your body language will become, enabling you
to feel more natural and relaxed when giving your evidence to the panel.
