Tax Partner Howard Donkin has more than 20 years’ experience in serving the not-for-profit community. Among his areas of expertise are complex tax issues, state and local tax issues, voluntary compliance issues, strategic planning, investment policies and organizational tax planning.
Howard is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants( AICPA) and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants( WSCPA), where he served as Chair of the Tax Sub-Committee. He is a member of the Washington Secretary of State’ s Charity Advisory Council. Howard also volunteers his time to the AICPA Technical Resource Panel to study tax issues on a national level, chairs the finance committee of the Bellevue Schools Foundation, is a member of Executive Alliance’ s Public Policy Forum, is a past Chairman of the Bellevue Arts Commission, and is a member of Bellevue Rotary. Howard has written several articles on tax issues and is on the Advisory Board of the EO Tax Review.
Audit Manager Carolyn Stevens joined the firm in 2005. Since joining Jacobson Jarvis, Carolyn has exclusively audited not-forprofit organizations focusing primarily on compliance engagements. Carolyn is also a consultant at Jacobson Jarvis and provides classroom training on accounting software. She brings with her 12 years of experience operating her own accounting business.
Carolyn is a member of the WSCPA and currently serves as the Treasurer for the University Friends Meeting( Society of Friends) and Dai Bai Zan Cho Bo Zen Temple.
Audit Manager Matt Cyr has been an auditor since 2007. As a manager in the audit department, Matt focuses on providing attestation services to not-for-profits of many sizes and missions. Financial analysis, budget work, and GAAP research are just some of the areas of accounting that he performs, also assisting clients with QuickBooks and other accounting needs. Matt has an extensive background with employee benefit plan audits.
Matt is a member of the WSCPA and an active contributor to their not-for-profit committee.
