Grade 8 Science : 8 th grade students are currently engaged in our Physics Unit investigating forces and motion . Specifically , we are trying to understand ways that we could engineer cars to be safer for consumers . This will include an upcoming simulation whereby students can alter different components of cars and then test their effectiveness at a crash demo . Groups will then participate in a performance task aimed at designing , building , and testing a small cart bumper that will most absorb the transfer of energy in a collision . Ask your 8 th grader which strategies they utilized and how well their bumper performed .
