The Scillonian passenger service operates between Penzance and St Mary’ s and takes around 2¾ hours, giving you a unique perspective of some of Cornwall’ s iconic coastline.
If you are visiting the other islands, onward travel to Tresco, Bryher and St Martin’ s is available by a small boat( payable locally).
Facilities you will find on board include comfy reclining seats, cafe bars serving hot and cold drinks along with snacks, and open air deck seating. Dogs are welcome in most areas of the ship but must be kept on a lead and within designated areas.
There are no sailings between mid- November and mid-March.

In March and November sailings mostly operate on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Between April and October sailings operate Monday to Saturday( no Sunday sailings), although during peak school holidays( mid July-mid September), there are daily sailings.

Wightlink provide an easy and frequent service between the UK mainland and the Isle of Wight.
Wightlink operate car ferries between Lymington and Yarmouth, which take around 40 minutes, or Portsmouth and Fishbourne, which take 45 minutes. Onboard facilities on the car ferries include spacious lounges with comfortable seating, panoramic windows, food and drink outlets, and large sundecks. Some of the ships on the Fishbourne route also have a children’ s play area.
A foot passenger catamaran operates between Portsmouth and Ryde, taking 22 minutes. The vessel has spacious passenger lounges, bicycle racks and a sun deck, but note there’ s no food and drink facilities due to the short journey time.

Red Funnel offer a foot passenger catamaran service between Southampton and West Cowes, which has a journey time of 28 minutes. Additionally, there is a traditional ferry operating between Southampton and East Cowes which gives you the option of taking your own car, and has a journey time of an hour. |

Isle of Man Steam Packet Company offer a choice of sailings across the Irish Sea. From Liverpool choose the high speed sea cat service( Manannan), which takes 2¾ hours or, the Manxman ferry whose journey time is 4¼ hours. Liverpool routes operate daily from April to October and on weekends throughout the winter.
The Manxman also operates daily from Heysham all year and takes 3¾ hours.
There is also a year-round( although not daily) service from Larne( Northern Island) to the Isle of Man on the Ben-my-Chree which has a journey time of 4½ hours.
The Mannanan offers a cafeteria with a wide selection of food options, a cinema lounge, large bar, spacious retail area, children’ s play area and variety of seating.

The Manxman has an array of cafés, bars, quiet spaces, a family zone and 40 cabins( 4 berth internal cabins, sea view cabins or executive balcony cabins). Accessible cabins are also available for wheelchair users, and for those travelling with furry friends, there is a pet lounge and 4 pet cabins.
Ben-my-Chree has recently undergone a refurbishment and offers a cafe and shops.

Northlink Ferries provide several options from the Scottish Mainland to Orkney and Shetland. There are nightly sailings from Aberdeen to Lerwick on board either the MV Hrossey or MV Hjaltland. Reclining seats, sleeping pods or cabins are available and recommended. A regular sailing from Aberdeen is also available to Hatston( outside Kirkwall) in Orkney. The same ferries are also available as an interisland service. Alternatively, the MV Hamnavoe travels from Scrabster to Stromness in the Orkneys, up to 6 times a day. It takes just 90 minutes and passes the Old Man of Hoy. Each vessel has a restaurant, bar and shop along with a premium lounge. |
CalMac( Caledonian MacBrayne) boast a comprehensive network of ferries, with a fleet as varied as the destinations served across 200 miles of Scotland’ s west coast, including the Isle of Arran. Options include an 80 minute crossing from Troon to Brocik or a 55 minute journey from Ardrossan to Brodick.
CalMac also operate to the Inner & Outer Hebrides. A main ferry runs from Ullapool to Lewis taking 2¾ hours, while for Skye there’ s a service from Mallaig to Armadale in the south of the island. Onward journeys can be taken to Raasay from Sconser and to the Outer Hebrides from Uig to North Uist and Harris.
