The road bypassed Brisbane as we drove further South to the Gold Coast, an area that is like a small Waikiki with high rises on the beach. Although we stayed in a nice nearby suburb, we explored some of the very famous surfing beaches that were a bit further South. Ryan had his boogie board and was fortunate enough to have been able to take advantage of some near perfect waves that he was told by the locals only come around every few months or so.
Mimi and I were a bit nervous at first to see him jump in near us and then disappear with the strong currents towards an area that we could not see. He then had to walk back to us later on. There were several of these unique beaches that we went to over the days as well as playing golf, shopping, bowling and of course eating in so many of the fantastic restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as a family. Ryan was very enthusiastic about boogie boarding and had comprehensively researched all of the best sites for the trip that we were able to take him. This family vacation turned out to be fantastic as we were able to see so much of the East coast of Australia.
