Horsing around- we are experts
Soon after, we moved into a townhouse that we purchased in New York State about 30 minutes from Manhattan. Work for both of us went well and I was traveling a great deal but when we were together we would go into the City for dinner or to just explore, drive around to towns looking for the right photo such as Woodstock and New Paltz, or we would go horseback riding in New York State. We enjoyed being around horses and it was a sport that we were both passionate about. Horses are magnificent animals. We would find horse back riding
Purchased photo opportunities in many diverse places. A ride in New Paltz once was interesting. The trail was along steep cliffs and deep in the woods. But I will never forget our before ride training. The girl who led the ride told us that this is a dangerous area and she told us what to do in case our horse ran away with us. She said that if we lose control of the horse that we were to climb out on its neck and cover its nose and mouth with our hand to slow its breathing. This image was now in my mind as we trotted and sometimes galloped along the trail.
We would ride in the snow sometimes which was notably very quiet as the horses galloped on the snow trail but once they hit deep snow, it wasn’ t pleasant as they had to struggle through it.
One of our favorite places to visit in the warmer months was Newport Rhode Island. It was a 3.5 hour ride that I usually did early in the morning to avoid any traffic. Newport was the most romantic and beautiful places that we had ever been to. The town was in the middle of the harbor that was surrounded by big and small yachts of all makes including sail and motorized. The town has quaint restaurants and shops that were great to investigate. We had our preferred eatery in the town where we had romantic dinners. The meals were marvelous as many times we would have the pound and a quarter lobster with all the trimmings and lots of wine.
