these clubs with her room mate and good friend Pam. I gently persuaded my girlfriend to go with me to several small fusion jazz clubs in the Village and in SoHo where we listened to incredible music. After all, New York was the center of the universe for this genre. Interestingly, several of the clubs were so small that during some breaks, some band members sat with us and had a drink. I took her to many large venue concerts such as Spiro Gyra at Lincoln Center which had virtually perfect acoustics. Both of us were usually dancing at our seats to this upbeat jazz and we had so much fun. I introduced my girlfriend to my favorite restaurant in Little Italy, Angelo’ s, and the spicy red sauces pleased her Singaporean palate. We would also frequent some trendy sushi bars in SoHo and visit so many galleries. She introduced me to Thai food and I had never eaten such spicy dishes before but I learned to enjoy the pain. Life was good living in Manhattan and literally every day and night was exciting and an adventure.
Her name is Mimi and we have now been married for more than 32 years. I still ask her if it was me or my car. My sisters said it was my car! Also, I found out the reason that she put salt in the coke. It was common in Singapore to reduce the fizz.
