I then offered to drive her down to the Village and she agreed. We had to walk many blocks to my car and there was a Puerto Rican parade on at the time making this more difficult than usual. I was still a bit scruffy with my Army jacket and she was meticulously dressed with multiple logos. Her eyes lit up when I pointed out my car and she got into this brand new and quite nice looking vehicle. I drove her to the Village and saw her a day or so later back at the realtor’ s office. She was very eager to converse with me. Was it me or my car? She accepted my invitation to take her to a movie so we met at the theater and saw Love At First Bite with George Hamilton and Susan Saint James. It was our first date and it went very well. She and I later found some very nice apartments. She was able to get a two bedroom that she shared with her girlfriend Pam on 81st street and 3rd avenue and my 1 bedroom apartment was on 89th street and 2nd avenue. Moreover, it was only a $ 2.50 taxi ride from my house to the theater district. So we were able to see 2 or 3 Broadway plays a week virtually for free. The reason that the tickets were so cheap related to marketing which was explained to me at the club. A theater would risk a bad review simply if it had empty seats. The management hedged their bets by filling these seats with doctors from Mount Sinai. I was able to buy so many tickets and treated my sisters and friends on many occasions.
It even gets better. My new girlfriend was working for a lawyer who helped several Chinese restaurant owners in various ways. The owners were usually so appreciative of her work that they invited her to many free meals always in a new restaurant. So here we were, having a free dinner and seeing a free Broadway play. It was magic. We had a blast as I took her to my favorite places in Little Italy and the artist district in Soho. She took me to Chinatown and introduced me to food that I had not had before and most of it was really great. She had been influenced by Disco and frequented
