Mimi and I traveled up to the airport in Newark, New Jersey to get a flight to Los Angeles and then onto Sydney. The weather in Newark was dismal and a thunder storm was approaching. We boarded the plane and Mimi was in coach class about midway back in the aircraft and I had a first class seat. As I sat down next to this woman, I looked at her and said,“ Aren’ t you a famous Actress?” and she said,“ As a matter of fact, I am.” I then told her that that is cool and I understand that you probably don’ t want to talk so I will respect that. She told me no, that’ s fine so we had a chat. Just then an announcement came up that the storm was now upon us and
Debra Jo Rupp that we would be delayed for awhile. So they served us champagne and cheese while we waited and I was learning all about Debra Jo Rupp from That‘ 70s Show. She told me that she was also in a number of movies. Mimi had walked up to see me and she was having a nightmare as kids behind her kept kicking her seat and it was awful. I introduced her to Debra and then jokingly, I raised my hand and said,“ Stewardess, someone from coach class is in first class!” It was like a scene from Seinfeld, but Mimi didn’ t think so. After about 3 hours we took off and got to LA. The only other time that I was that close to a movie star was when I sat a a sushi bar in Manhattan and Dustin Hoffman sat right next to me. Again, I was cool and didn’ t look at him or talk to him and I am sure that he preferred it that way.
