Rod is one of the officials at the raceway and he has invited me to take photos as well as introduced me to other vintage Jaguar enthusiasts to allow me to take other photos.
Yolanda and Joe Nardizzi
Irene and Tony Higham
Yolanda and Joe Nardizzi are our super religious friends that have us over to their incredible mansion for the best Italian dinners ever. Mimi and I thoroughly enjoy our nights at the Nardizz’ s as it is always fun and interesting. They keep telling us about these so called religious miracles, which seem to be basic coincidence. My line to Joe and Yolanda is simple. Show me the money. Give me forensic proof and I will believe. Not conjecture. Not so called miracles. Just plain proof that a scientist needs. I call Joe the Pope. These guys take 30-40 people on pilgrimages to Italy and elsewhere a couple times a year and Yolanda is a history expert. I have lots of fun kidding them about religion as I am pretty damn sure they know what I believe in and it’ s not what they do. Imagine not believing in evolution. Geez. Come on. Get with it. We have found that our Singapore relatives and friends are also extremely religious as superstition is big in the orient. But to each his / her own I guess as long as they don’ t try to rope me in. But wait, they do!
We also like traveling down south to Bunbury, about 2 hours south of Perth, where we get to stay with Linda and Ian Morison or our other close friends Irene and Tony Higham.
Halina and Gerry O’ Driscoll
Tony has been the local GP for ever and he is a real character from the UK. Yeah, they both drink tea. According to Ryan, Irene makes the best lamb roast ever. I have to agree. Tony does like his wine and the bottles seem to empty too fast! Did I mention that Tony likes to drink? It’ s always fun at the Higham’ s house and we have seen their two boys grow up since they were young. Irene and Tony are now grandparents twice. Irene is a midwife and likes to give the doctors grief when they misbehave. The town of Bunbury is now filled with upscale restaurants and coffee shops and has changed with modern times and our trips are usually fun complete with a game of golf at the private club.
Although we have only known Halina and Prof Gerry O’ Driscoll for about 14 years, they are very close and we appreciate their company and their quirkiness with their support for so many animals including kangaroos, birds, dogs and more. Gerry is a radical cardiologist and a Professor of Cardiology that has an interesting point of view of some of his colleagues! He is a world leader in heart failure and he used to be the head of the heart and lung transplant unit in Perth. Halina was a GP who gave it up to get her PhD and now she volunteers her time to help so many animals. But it comes at a cost. A pelican took off part of her ear as it tried to swallow Halina’ s head. At any given time Halina could be seen to be wrestling with a bird to untangle it from fishing line, hooks, plastic and other crap. She is incredibly dedicated to these poor animals.
Anna and Isabella Carswell
Judy and Jim Majors were our neighbors when we first moved to Australia more than 26 years ago
Judy and Jim Majors and unfortunately, Judy passed away last year. They have both been good friends over the years and they let us stay in their Dunsborough house so many times. Dunsborough is a beautiful town about 3 hours South of Perth along the ocean. Jim is a boat pilot and has worked in the port town of Fremantle since the beginning
