RACE INFO
ELECTRONIC TIMING THE FINISH
This is a ChampionChip-timed event, and those 42km
and 21km entrants who do not already own a chip
could hire or purchase a ChampionChip online when
entering. Fun Run entrants will receive a disposable
timing chip with their race number. Once you are over the finish line, you will receive
your pre-purchased commemorative medal. You will
also receive cold water and Coke. The finish venue
is on the main fields of Saheti School, where you are
welcome to put up club gazebos on the Saturday
before the race, but note that space is available on a
first come, first served basis.
Please remember that the race is timed mat-to-mat,
and both your Net and Gun Times will be available
in your result. Should you be doing the marathon,
your net (mat-to-mat) time will automatically be sent
to the Comrades Marathon for consideration as
your qualifying time. Should you not cross the start
mat, you will only be given a gun-to-finish-mat time.
You must cross the start mat within 10 minutes of
the starting gun in order to be an official starter in
the race. As per IAAF and ASA Rules prizes will be
awarded strictly on gun-to-finish-mat time.
Please note: No chip, no official result.
CUT-OFF TIMES
The official cut-off time for the 21km is 3.5 hours,
while the 42km cut-off time is 6 hours, with the

• 19km at 2 hours 45min
• 34km at 5 hours

Sweep/rescue buses will be roving along the route to
pick up runners that do not make the cut-off times, or
those who cannot complete the race for any reason.
If you are picked up, you will be disqualified from the
race and you will not receive a finishing time.

or guardians can “check in” their kids, at no
charge.
• Access for children 2 to 10.
• There are loads of fun-filled, age-appropriate
activities, and qualified child-minders to look
after the children.
• The Kids Zone will be open from 05h30 to 12h00
on race day.
• Activities include jumping castles, art, sand art,
face painting and jumping rope games.
OFFICIAL CHARITY
The official beneficiary of the event is the Edenvale
SPCA. All donations to this organisation made our
online system directly benefit animals in the Edenvale

between all SPCA’s nationwide, a portion will be used
in other less fortunate areas.
