RACE INFO Get Ready To Run! Here’s all the important information you need ahead of running the Jeppe Marathon, Half Marathon and Fun Runs on 9 February. NUMBER COLLECTION Collect your race number and any merchandise you pre-ordered from the race number collection venues listed below. Please be sure to bring the race number confirmation e-mail with you to Number Collection. • Friday 7 February, from 10h00 – 18h00 Jeppe Quondam (79 Boeing Rd East, Bedfordview) • Saturday 8 February, from 09h00 – 17h00 Saheti School (corner Civin Dr and Linksfield Dr, Senderwood) Collecting for Others: Entrants will be able to collect race numbers for fellow runners provided they bring a copy of the fellow runner’s race number confirmation e-mail and ID. Courier Option Entries: Entrants who selected and paid for the courier option will not need to collect their race numbers. You will, however, be required to collect any merchandise from Number Collection, or on race day. Substitutions: These can be facilitated at the Race Office until 31 January 2020. Thereafter, a substitution can only be facilitated at Number Collection. A substitution fee of R50 will apply. Temporary Licences (21km & 42km only) Runners who are not registered with a club and running province must have purchased a temporary licence, costing R35 (21km) or R100 (42km). A temporary license means those runners are now eligible for insurance from ASA for the duration of the race only. This means it is vital to complete the tear-off strip on the number and this must be deposited into the collection boxes at the end of the race, before you leave the finish tent. Runners failing to complete the slip or deposit it in the collection box will not be covered by the insurance. E-mail [email protected] or call 011 017 2700 for any registration queries. 14 Jeppe Marathon | 9 February 2020 CGA CHAMPS The 2020 Central Gauteng Athletics Marathon Champs will be held at the Jeppe Marathon, and these Champs are mandatory for athletes wishing to be considered for selection to the CGA team for the SA Marathon Champs later in the year. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in the Senior, 40+, 50+, 60+ age categories for men and women. PARKING NOTES Free parking will be available on race day in five designated parking areas, which are clearly marked on the venue map on page 14. You must arrive early to avoid delays. The parking areas open at 04h00, and please listen to the instructions from parking marshals, Off Road Rescue and the EMPD, who will be on hand to help with traffic management and make your parking experience smooth and incident-free. If a parking area is full, you will be directed to the next available parking area. The parking marshals and car guards are paid for the day, so tips are not required. Please note that all parking is at own risk. THE START • The 21km and 42km line up from 05h00 underneath the start banner in Civin Drive, and the gun will go off at 06h00 sharp for both races. Remember that the 21km runners will complete one lap of the course, while 42km runners will complete two laps. • The 4km and 8km fun runners must line up behind the traffic lights outside the main gate of the school in Civin Drive, and their event starts at 06h30. WATER POINTS There are seven water points along the 21km route, all fully stocked with water, Coca-Cola and ice. There are also portaloos at each point. These water points then double up for the 42km runners on their second lap. Meanwhile, there are two water points on the 8km Fun Run, and one on the 4km Fun Run. Stash Your Trash! Please make sure you throw your left-over cups or water sachets into the bins provided at the water points.
