The welcome party for participants was held on the first night of the 2019 Japanese English Model United Nations (JEMUN) conference. The evening's activities began with a toast, where all the delegates celebrated a hard day’s work.
Next, everyone ate and talked with each other. There was a buffet with many kinds of food. There was chicken, pizza, sushi, salad, pasta, and more. Furthermore, there was halal food, too. Halal food is for people who cannot have specific food because of religious restrictions.
All participants were enjoying the food and the welcoming atmosphere. They had just met today; however, they were having fun chatting and learning about each others countries.
People who have different backgrounds take part in JEMUN and have life changing experiences. I interviewed one of the participants and he told me that the things he had to do are challenging and not an easy job, but he looked back on the day and he thought they were worthwhile. I think everybody at JEMUN feels the same way as him.
