The use of energy and food waste affects the environment but here we picked up three topics, food waste, energy used for houses and energy used for transportation.
First, let's focus on food issues. Food waste makes the environment worse. However, especially in developed countries, people waste a lot of food. If people cannot eat all of their food, they usually throw them away without shame.
Next let's shift the focus to energy used for houses. People who retire from their jobs and move to smaller houses in Japan can cut down energy use. For example, the space is very small so it makes us feel cool faster when an air conditioner is turned on. In other countries such as the UK and New Zealand, there are not many air conditioners and people do not use them. Actually, when I studied abroad in New Zealand, I could not find any air conditioners in school or in my host family's house. If they felt hot, they took their clothes off and opened windows and finally, they used fans. When I wanted to be cool, I went to a big shopping mall.
Finally, we talk about transportation. Air pollution by automobile fumes is one of the serious problems in the world because driving is dispensable for people. In Japan, recent years, people try not to drive their cars too much. It connects to decreased air pollution.
People make some environment problems but they might think it is not related their habits. Dr. Philip Vaughter said, “People just want to be comfortable but they should keep the environment by themselves and problems and solutions are different from each countries so they need to know what is the best way to solve climate change for their countries.
