Meet Dr . Monidipa Ravi , Lead Psychiatrist , Child and Adolescent
Seventy-five percent of all mental health problems and illnesses have an onset in childhood , adolescence , and young adulthood . At JBH , the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric ( CAP ) Program is the primary access point for the most vulnerable youth in our region , under the age of 18 , with a variety of behavioural , mood , anxiety , substance abuse , psychosis and developmental disorders .
The CAP Program provides early intervention and supports a faster integration back to home and school , and in resuming normal routines and positive experiences that will further improve their resiliency and recovery .
We are so pleased to welcome Dr . Monidipa Ravi as the new Child and Adolescent Lead Psychiatrist at Joseph Brant Hospital .
Dr . Ravi completed her undergraduate degree , medical training , general psychiatry residency , and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Toronto . She comes to Joseph Brant Hospital from her previous role at SickKids Hospital , treating inpatients and outpatients with comorbid medical and psychiatric conditions .
She is also a consultant to the Family Navigation Project through Sunnybrook Hospital which helps families with a youth experiencing mental health or addictions concerns to navigate to appropriate resources . Dr . Ravi believes in familycentered care , and she greatly values an interdisciplinary and team approach .
“ Youth-specific mental health programs are vital to the wellbeing of families in our area , and being able to provide inpatient beds for kids in our community when they need it most would provide a muchneeded service ” said Dr . Ravi . “ It ’ s about getting the care you need , when you need it , and where you need it .”
Dr . Ravi is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto , and has been very involved in the education and training of medical students , residents , and fellows .
