83 The result of these processes contains certain visual ideas that accompany me and can be seen in the search for and transformation of the materials of those that emerge, when stages occur in which art (or just its im- ages) merely represents a trail to be tolerated, a sign of apathy, weariness or exhaustion. These are moments when it becomes necessary to recognise the states of trial and error, which require actions that are simpler, dirtier, more hybrid, fluid and indolent, and provide relief for a certain kind of anxiety in work that is more clearly-defined and permanent. This complex set of collages of photographs, diffuse and tidily random –made up of reproduced photo- graphs, of others and my own–, is also like an anti-mirror of Narcissus, faced with which any image that is intercepted, moved, disorientated or fragmented is reflected back as another kind of recognition of oneself, where a memory bank, a graphic storage centre of influences, homages and learning processes openly ap- pear, that stabilise their identity in the endless process of creating images. In this way I recreate a sense of unreality that owes a debt to abstraction, and of the questioning of perception and “persistent uncertainty”, (with Gerard Richter’s permission).
