JUNE EXPERIENCE Benedict Music Tent • June 23-July 1, 2017 It’s not often the Benedict Music Tent in Aspen comes alive with electric guitars and heavy bass, so when it does you can be fairly certain the JAS Aspen Snowmass June Experience is back! A sold-out Saturday night performance featuring Earth, Wind & Fire kept audiences on their feet, but some of the highlights of this year’s event may surprise you: • Opening night, June 22 at the JAS Café Upstairs at the Aspen Art Museum, featuring Japanese pianist Hiromi with Colombian-born harpist Edmar Castaneda kicked off the Experience with a one-of-a-kind performance • Opening acts Jon Batiste & Stay Human (Fri) and Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton (Sun) blew audiences away both on the main stage and during a special brunch/Listen Up! talk with JAS Founder, President & CEO Jim Horowitz on Sunday morning • Closing the Experience in a collaboration with the AMFS, JAS presented a very special performance: Ella @ 100: Direct from the Apollo, featuring Count Basie Orchestra, Patti Austin, Lizz Wright, Andra Day and Clint Holmes JAS once again hosted a free nightly lawn party on the Music Tent grounds June 23-25 prior to the main stage acts. Crowds were treated to performances on two stages including the JAS Summer Camp students, Paa Kow, Morgan James, Arthur LeeLand and Jes Grew.
