Fiji Prime Minister makes first Japan visit in 10 years, from May 18 to 24, 2015
フィジー首相、2015年5月18～24日に10年ぶりの訪日
Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, hosted a summit meeting with
Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji,
on May 19 at the Japanese Prime Minister’s office in Tokyo.
During the meeting, Mr. Abe stated that Japan is willing to promote
bilateral relations in trade and investment and cooperate in various
international forums. In addition, the Japanese PM emphasized the
need to contribute to peace and security in the Asia-Pacific Region.
Fiji’s PM, on the other hand, gave a summary of some of the benefits
of the reform programs that have transformed Fiji’s investment
climate. Mr. Bainimarama said: “All these improvements mean that
Fiji is not only open for business, there has never been a better time
to do business in Fiji. And I invite you all to avail yourselves of the
assistance we are providing and check out these opportunities.”
Fiji currently enjoys Japanese investment relating to tourism, fishing
and education services. Sectors where there are further opportunities
include light manufacturing, medical services, agro-business
processing, fisheries and horticulture.

日本国首相は、5月19日、東京の日本国総理大臣官邸でジョサイア・ヴォレンゲ・バイニマラマ・フィジー共和国首相と首脳会談を行った。
安倍首相は会談の中で、
日本は貿易や投資の分野で両国関係を促進し、様々な国際フォーラムで協力していきたいと述べた。
さらに同首相は、
アジア太平洋地域の
平和と安全に貢献する必要性を強調した。
他方、
フィジー首相は、
フィジーの投資環境を変えた改革プログラムの利点の幾つかを取りまとめた。
バイニマラマ首相は、
「これらの改善点すべては、
フィジーがビジネスに対して開放されているだけでなく、今がフィジーでビジネスを行う絶好のタイミングであること
を意味しています。
そして、皆様すべてにはフィジー政府の支援を利用し、
この機会を活かしていただきたいと思います。」
と述べた。
フィジーは現在、観光、漁業および教育サービス関連分野が日本の投資対象となっている。
さらに成長が見込める分野として、軽工業、医療サービス、農産物加工、
水産業、園芸が挙げられる。
Papua New Guinea’s First Prime Minister Somare Awarded Japan’s Highest Honor
パプアニューギニア初代首相のソマレ卿が日本最高位の勲章を受章
Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) Grand Chief Sir
Michael Somare, PNG’s First Prime Minister and
now Governor of East Sepik Province, received
the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising
Sun, Japan’s highest rank awarded to 85 foreign
nationals, in May this year.

Sir Michael’s invaluable contribution to the
relationship between Japan and the Independent
State of Papua New Guinea includes the
establishment of diplomatic relations built upon
mutual trust and understanding in 1975 during
Papua New Guinea’s early stages as an independent
nation, which continues to strengthen bilateral
relations in a wide range of cooperation.
H.E. Gabriel JK Dusava, the Ambassador of PNG to
Japan, hopes this conferral will decorate the 40th
anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the
two countries this year.

日綬章叙勲を受章した。

パプアニューギニアが独立国家となって間もない
1975年に、相互信頼、相互理解に基づいて構築された外交関係の樹立が含まれる。
この外交関係は、幅広い協力分野で二国間関係を強化し続けている。
ガブリエル・ドゥサバ駐日パプアニューギニア独立国大使は、
今年、
両国の外交関係が40周年を迎えるに当たり、
この受章が花を添えることになると期待している。
