Charbonneau Women ’ s Golf Association By PATRICIA BOOK
Our club is staying busy this winter |
The time between one golf season and the next is not dormant ! There is much to do in the offseason . The transition between the
BOOK outgoing and incoming board requires training and many planning meetings . Staging and confirming the calendar , rules , competitions and the handbook all demands attention to details that are clearly defined . Membership drives and staying connected with members , as well as any collaboration efforts with the Men ’ s Club and The Niners , is also an important part of the off season . Much of these last two efforts are part of what I would like to address

in this article .
One of our offseason efforts is a partnership with the Men ’ s Club and The Niners to award scholarships to employees of Charbonneau who are enrolled in an institution of higher learning or a trade school . The 2024 scholarship winners , McKenna Rump , Sara Ellerton and Kaydence Meikle , were honored and presented with a check at a reception on Dec . 27 , 2024 in the Pro Shop . All three received a financial award to assist with books , fees , rent and food for the upcoming semester . Members of all three golf clubs contribute to the scholarship fund . However , in an effort to add additional funds in the scholarship budget , the three golf clubs will host a Chili Feed fundraiser at 5:30 p . m . on Jan . 15 in the clubhouse dining area . All are invited to attend . Nortons , our caterer , will provide chili , cheese , onions , clam chowder , corn bread , salad and dessert , and the cost is $ 21 . Checks should be made payable to the Men ’ s Club and brought to the Pro Shop . We hope you will join us and help us raise additional dollars for this

worthy cause .
Our membership committee is busy planning a series of winter luncheons to bring old friends together and introduce new members to CWGA . The first luncheon will be at 11:30 a . m . on Jan . 9 . The Butteville General Store will provide soup , bread , muffins and homemade ice cream . In addition , we will share stories of exciting travel times . Sign up in the CWGA notebook in the Pro Shop and submit $ 25 in the CWGA drawer by 11:30 a . m . Jan . 6 .
Lastly , there is a brave group of CWGA members playing Winter Golf on Tuesday and Thursday starting at 9 a . m . With hand-warmers , long underwear , umbrellas and a fun attitude , those of us playing would agree that winter golf is a chance to practice new skills and enjoy the game of golf with no pressure . You would be surprised at how many days we have been able to play without inclement weather . There is still plenty of time to join us if you can brave the weather .
