Animals are family . When they get sick , they trust their humans to help them get well . Sadly , that is not always possible . Many people are unprepared for the cost of veterinary bills when their four-legged family members have a life-threatening illness or chronic condition .
The owners of Precise for Paws found that out when their beloved Bull Mastiff , Nakita , was diagnosed with cancer back in 2017 . Nakita was just 3 years old and would require extensive chemotherapy , as well as several surgeries . The family was not ready to let her go so they began the emotionally and financially draining process of treatment at Cornell University . Thankfully , Nakita pulled through , but required years of special care . The family credits numerous organizations with helping them through that journey , including Blue Buffalo and Live Like Rue . Says co-founder Kylie Rossman , " Organizations like that are the reason we started Precise . It was amazing to have others rooting for Kita and giving us the strength to carry on . Providing some of these services to others is what Precise for Paws is all about ."
A 501 ( c )( 3 ) non-profit , Precise for Paws specializes in animal welfare . Donations help feed , shelter , and provide vet care for local animals in need throughout the community . Precise for Paws ' mission is to provide a better quality of life for animals . They hope to accomplish this through education , community outreach , and by providing a variety of resources to owners / caretakers of the animals . CEO Tom Rossman , his daughter Kylie , and Precise for Paws secretary , Tammy Swortwood-Hoffman , strive to improve and save animals ' lives by promoting care and compassion .
Precise for Paws will be holding a fundraiser on Saturday , January 20th , at Haywood ' s on the Green in Mill Hall . They invite you to join them for their First Annual Polar Plunge ! To register : preciseforpaws @ gmail . com
