PAPA BOUBA DIOP OF SENEGAL
Papa Bouba Diop will always be remembered for the game against France in Senegal ’ s first ever FIFA World Cup appearance where he stunned the then world champions to score the only goal of the game and his country ' s first at the tournament . He died at the age of 42 from a long illness which was later discovered to be Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ( ALS ). He was nicknamed ' The Wardrobe ' because of his size and calm demeanor .
US DECATHLETE - RAFER JOHNSON
Having won silver in the 1956 Olympics , Rafer Johnson finished first to win the decathlon at the 1960 Olympics , earning himself the tag of " world ' s greatest athlete ". His prominence grew when he raced to subdue John F . Kennedy ' s assassin after a presidential campaign event at the Ambassador Hotel . He died age 86 , in his Los Angeles home , on December 2nd 2020 .
DICK ALLEN , SEVEN-TIME MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ALL-STAR
Dick Allen was an American professional baseball player who was a seven-time MLB All-Star , he died on December 7th 2020 , age 78 . He was considered one of the best hitters to play for the Philadelphia Phillies . To honor him the number 15 which he wore in his playing days was retired by the club . Allen is known for his fight against racism during the tumultuous period of the 1960s
MOTJEKA MADISHA AND ANELE NGCONGCA
Anele Ngcongca
Motjeka Madisha and Anele Ngcongca both of Mamelodi Sundowns football club and the South African national football team , passed on in December and November , respectively . Madisha died on December 12 , at the age of 25 , in a car crash after the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a stationary object and the car caught alight . The player was said to have crawled out of the burning vehicle but did not survive the accident . Anele , 33 , died on November 23 in a single roll-over car crash on the N2 highway near Mtunzini . Though he was signed on to Sundowns , he was on loan at Amazulu until his death
