Evelyn M. Grimard
EVELYN M. GRIMARD
DALTON – Evelyn Marjorie Grimard, 90, of Forest Lake Road, passed away on Jan. 3 with her husband and two daughters by her side following several years of declining health. She also had several faithful friends and caregivers assisting the family.
Evelyn was born in East Concord, Vt., on July 31, 1926. She was the daughter of Norman Crawford and Minola Carr Crawford. She attended school in Gilman. Evelyn married Robert A. Grimard on Feb. 12, 1947 and they remained in the North Country raising their two daughters.
Evelyn was active in the community and church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Emblem Club, Bethlehem Country Club, Red Hat Society, and local bowling leagues. She was an avid golfer and spent many hours on the golf course, enjoying every minute of this time.
Evelyn’ s talents extended to quilting, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Her family was the recipients of many of her beautiful items that she made including baby blankets, quilts, and sweaters. She was an avid cook who enjoyed learning new recipes. She belonged to the Whitefield Extension Group for many years where she learned many new recipes and made many new friends.
In the late 1970s, Evelyn and Robert purchased a camp on Forest Lake which became their summer residence until her death. In the late 1980s, they built a home in Cape Coral, Fla., and continued wintering there until five years ago when her health began to decline. She loved her Florida home and took pride in decorating it and making it a beautiful place for them to spend their winters. They made new friends there and Evelyn continued her golfing on Florida golf courses. She continued her sense of community by volunteering at the Cape Coral Hospital and joining the Red Hat Society. She spent many hours working on her quilts, doing hand-work on many of them. She loved her life in Florida but was always ready to return to Forest Lake to spend summers with her family.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents and all her siblings: Eleanor, Eva, Ethel, Ellen, Clyde, and Clarence. She was
also predeceased by her son-inlaw Herbert Hennessey, Jr. and her two sisters-in-law Rita Grimard Altamuro and Theresa Grimard Stevens who remained close to her over the years.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Robert, of Dalton; her daughters Jean Bergin and husband Robert, and Joanne Hennessey; her grandchildren Derek Hennessey, Beth Hennessey Reynolds and husband Robert, Jameson Bergin and wife Ruthie, and Jonathan Bergin and wife Kate. She especially loved visits from her great grandchildren – all eight of them. During her declining years a visit and a hug from any of them made her smile. She was“ Nanny” to all of them and will remain a very special part of their early childhood years. Her family also includes a niece, Pauline Belanger Chapman and a nephew, Raymond Belanger and his family.
The family is most thankful to Dr. Fernandez, Dr. Adams, Pat Steady, and the other Northwoods Hospice employees. A heartfelt thank you to the caregivers who also became special friends to Evelyn and her family.
There will be a funeral mass on Saturday, Jan. 14 at St. Matthew Church in Whitefield at 11 a. m. Evelyn was married in this church and has been a member ever since her marriage in 1947. A reception will follow at the Inn at Whitefield where friends and family can gather to celebrate Evelyn’ s life.
Evelyn will be greatly missed, especially by her family. She will, however, never be forgotten.

Frank E. Uran, Jr.
FRANK E. URAN, JR.
WEST STEWARTSTON – Frank E. Uran, Jr., 64, of West Stewartstown, died on Saturday evening, Jan. 7, 2017, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook.
He was born in West Stewartstown on May 13, 1952, a son to the late Frank E. and Zelma( Foster) Uran, Sr. He attended schools in Pittsburg.
For many years, Frank worked as a laborer at Ethan Allen in Beecher Falls, and he
also worked in the kitchen at The Balsams for a couple years. In his younger days, he loved to snowmobile and go fishing. He will be remembered by his family as a very talented cook.
Frank leaves behind two sisters, Gloria Sweatt of Pittsburg and Brenda Lanctot of Colebrook, and a brother, John Uran of West Stewartstown, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Roger and Steve Uran, and three sisters, Carol Bunnell, Sylvia Bedard and Rose Bernard.
There are no public calling hours or services scheduled. A family celebration may be held at a later date.

William H. Astle
WILLIAM H. ASTLE
GUILDHALL, Vt.– William H. Astle, 63, died suddenly at his home Sunday morning, Jan. 8, 2017.
Astle was born in Lancaster on Aug. 4, 1953, the son of Edgar and Marian( Teare) Astle.
Bill worked as a social worker at Alpha House and N. H. Human Services. Later he worked at the Groveton Wausau Paper Mills as the Shipping and Warehouse Superintendent until retirement in 2005.
Bill and Regina designed their home on Fellows Road in Guildhall. He enjoyed being outdoors creating a landscaper’ s dream lawn and gardens. On the property both he and Regina worked to create trails through the woods to snowshoe or ski in the winter, and to walk throughout the year. He loved to listen to folk and bluegrass music, and attending live performances. He was a wonderful husband and brother and a kind friend to all who knew him.
He was raised in Groveton, and attended school there. He graduated valedictorian of his class, and went to UNH. He graduated with a Bachelor’ s Degree in Social Sciences.
He has a sister, Susan L. Astle of Berlin. Regina’ s brothers: Stephen( Donna) DeBoer and their children Lindsay( Bill) Simurra and Chip DeBoer; Fred( Mary) DeBoer and their children Michele DeBoer and Lynda DeBoer. He has a Goddaughter, Katherine Christopher( Doug) McMann of Lancaster. He also leaves Aunts Carolyn Astle of Berlin, Conn. and Pearl Koskela of Dublin, many cousins and extended family. He leaves many wonderful, caring friends who supported him and Regina in life and during his illness.
A memorial service is being planned at a later date. The family writes,“ In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to your favorite local charity, and give your love and kindness to someone each day. Peace to all.”

DOROTHY JOHNSON
STARK – Dorothy“ Dot” Lorraine( Meacham) Johnson, 93, of Northside Road in Stark, died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 at the Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown, where she had been a resident since April 2016.
Dot was born on May 31, 1923 in Ashford Hollow, New York a daughter of Manley and Myrtle( Rich) Meacham. She was a resident of the Groveton and Stark areas for most of her life. Dot was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church. She loved to knit and cook.
Dot is survived by one daughter-in-law, Rebecca“ Becky” Nason of Stark; her two daughters Shirley McMurry of New Jersey and Evelyn Mae Bevens and husband John of Watertown, New York; seven grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband Daniel Nason, Sr. in 1971; son Daniel Nason, Jr. in 1992; second husband Ernest Johnson in 2009; son Larry Nason in 2014; two sisters Iola Howard and Clairebell Smith and one brother Leon Meacham.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 from 5-8 p. m. at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Graveside service will be at the convenience of the family in the
spring in the Northumberland Cemetery.

Bruce Tibbetts
BRUCE TIBBETTS
BEECHER FALLS, Vt.– Willard " Bruce " Tibbetts 75, of Rutledge, Tenn., formerly of Beecher Falls, Vt., died on Dec. 25, 2016, while in respite care at Signature Nursing Home in Rogersville, Tenn., after a long battle with failing health.
Bruce was born in West Stewartstown on April 17, 1941 to Virginia Condon and the late Charles Tibbetts. Bruce lived in Beecher Falls, Vt., most of his life but the last six years. He then moved to Rutledge, Tenn., to be closer to his daughter, granddaughter and grandson.
Bruce held various jobs from being a Stewartstown cop in his younger days to working at Ethan Allen and with GSA Services. For the most part he was self employed as a filling station owner and had a tire shop, Bruce ' s Tire. He was a charter member of the Border Lions Club and a member of the Canaan bowling league. His favorite passion was playing guitar and singing in a band. He loved going camping and visiting with friends at the American Legion.
He was married to Ghislaine " Jessie " Tibbetts, his wonderful wife of 51 years who passed away two years ago on Aug. 16, 2014. He leaves behind his daughter Donna Tonkin and family Jeff and Coby of Rutledge Tenn., a granddaughter Jessica Biron Phelps and husband Jason, his mother Virginia Tirrill of Gulf Breeze Fla. Three sisters Nancy Tirrill of Gulf Breeze, Linda Maksymuk and husband Allen of Navarre, Fla., and Sandra Gray of St Johnsbury, Vt.
Funeral services will be held for both " Jessie " and " Bruce " at a later date.
MAXINE P. GOKEY
PITTSBURG – Maxine P. Gokey, 73, of Pittsburg, died on Monday morning, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow, Vt., after a period of declining health.
She was born in Pittsburg on May 30, 1943, a daughter to the late Oliver Smith and Patricia
