A winner of five Tony Awards, The Drowsy Chaperone is one of the funniest lighthearted musicals of the last 50 years. Start with two lovers, a desperate theatre producer, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone. Then, add a generous splash of glitz, glamour and drama. The result is a loving send-up of the Jazz age musical featuring one show-stopping song-and-dance number after another.“ Drowsy” is an excellent opportunity to get involved with theatre and the Upstage players. There are several feature cast members but also a chorus of characters for actors of all ages to get involved in this high energy production.
Interested actors are asked to prepare a short song they know well, preferably from musical theatre repertoire. Please bring sheet music. Singing with accompaniment preferred. An accompanist will be provided. Actors may be asked to do some movement and / or read from the script. Come prepared to move.
The Drowsy Chaperone will be directed by Andrew Lidestri, Artistic Director for Upstage Players with Musical Direction by Rachel Norton, and choreography by Andrew Lidestri & Madalyn Sheehy. The show will rehearse and perform at the Littleton Opera House. Rehearsals begin Feb. 1 and will take place most Wednesday and Thursday evenings as well as Sunday afternoons. Performance dates are April 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16. Any theater lovers interested in working with set crews, prop and tech production or costuming are welcome to come to auditions and sign up for this production.

Upstage Players is also pleased to announce its first Acting Studio Class offering training opportunities for adults and teens who are interested in learning about the craft of acting.
