ustralian test cricket captain Pat Cummins has a unique perspective when it comes to balancing his high-profile career, his love for family and a diverse mix of interests. While the sportsman is famous for being the first fast bowler to captain the Australian team, his skills in cricket are just part of his story.
“ I’ m always curious to try new things,” says the 32-year-old.“ I try to align myself with projects I’ m passionate about and things that make a difference.”
After making his Test debut at age 18, Pat has had a professional cricket career spanning more than a decade. Sport, of course, forms an integral part of the fast bowler’ s views on life.“ What I love most about cricket is the camaraderie, the problem-solving, the resiliency to [ overcome ] challenges,” he says.“ All those parts are what makes it a real test, and where you find fulfillment. I think my passion and purpose lies in overcoming setbacks.”
The elite sportsman seeks balance in everything he does, ensuring he prioritises quality family time with his wife Becky and their kids Albie and Edith, alongside long tour dates abroad with the Australian cricket team.
During the off-season, he gets a chance to miss playing the game.“ I’ ll make sure I do get a break so that when summer rolls around I’ m chomping at the bit to get back into cricket.” >
