For kids :
Hooray ! Family Storytime has now donned its winter garb ! You and your children are invited to join the Library ’ s Youth Services staff , who will share their favorite stories in their own creative blend of storytelling and early learning fun ! With a new story debuting each week , Family Storytime happens on several Wednesdays and Thursdays in January ( namely the 10th and 11th , 17th and 18st , 24th and 25th and the 31st ) at 10:30 a . m .
To help ring in 2024 , the Children ’ s Department is beginning a brand-new program called Terrific Toddlers , which will premiere on Monday , Jan . 8 , and reappear on the 22nd and 29th from 10:30 to noon . Have a 2-to-3 year-old ? The toddler years are tricky : join us for this beloved series as we talk about upsets , meltdowns , family fun and more ! Terrible twos ? Perish the thought ! We say Terrific Twos !
But don ’ t worry — our familiar Baby and Toddler Time won ’ t be sunsetting because of the new addition — it also continues on Tuesdays , Jan . 9 , 16 , 23 and 30 at 10:30 a . m . and then again at 11:15 a . m .! Programming Librarians Brad , Jo and Sam engage babies and toddlers in interactive stories , songs , rhymes and play to help build skills for reading readiness ! Join us each week for more fun ways to grow up loved and wise .
On Saturday , Jan . 13 at 11 a . m ., please join former Youth Librarian Steve Engelfried with your family for a special live presentation of “ The Pink Pig Puppet Theater ’ s Silly Stories .” These three short tales feature an irritated rooster , a singing bear and other funny animal puppet characters . Each story is introduced by Pink Pig and Rooster ( who doesn ’ t always get everything right ). Free and open to all .
Play Group will meet on three Fridays this month : Jan . 12 , 19 and 26 . Drop in anytime from 10:30 a . m . to 12 p . m . and let the kiddos play with a variety of toys , as well as socialize with others . For children ages birth to 6 with their grownups .
STEAM Stuff is a drop-in program featuring hands-on STEAM activities at the library on early release Wednesdays . Designed for elementary age children ( kindergarten to fith grade ) with an adult in attendance , STEAM Stuff happens this month on Wednesday , Jan . 17 from 1-2:30 p . m .
And finally , on Saturday , Jan . 27 , please join us for Saturday Classic Family Matinee & Family Board Games ! From favorite family book to favorite family movies , these classics are meant to be enjoyed again and again . Warm up at the library while you watch a great movie . You are welcome to bring snacks . The movie will start at 1:30 p . m . with doors opening at 1:15 p . m . All movies are rated PG . This Jan . 27 we will feature the film “ Hugo .” Come and join us !
For teens :
Teens are always welcome at the Teen Advisory Board ( TAB ) meetings on two January Mondays — the 8th and 22nd , from 4:15-5:15 p . m .
Teen Afterschool Drop in is always filled with fun activities for students in sixth through 12th grades ! This month ’ s drop ins happen on early-release Wednesdays , Jan . 10 , 17 , 24 and 31 from 3-6 p . m .
