GOING GREEN! GOING SMART!
R-32 is currently being used in more than
15 million air conditioning units (estimated
May 2016), distributed in more than 40
countries worldwide, including Japan, India,
Australia, Thailand and several other Asian,
Middle East and European countries, including
UAE, Oman & Saudi Arabia. Supporting
sustainable development, Daikin encourages
manufacturers globally to adopt the use of
R-32 on air conditioners to contribute lowering
the environmental impact. In that view, Daikin
is sharing its knowledge and technology by
offering worldwide free access to 93 patents,
to encourage companies to develop and
commercialize air conditioning equipment using
this single component refrigerant.
It is estimated that if all air conditioners in
developed countries using the conventional
R-410A were converted to R-32, the global
warming impact from HFCs in 2030 can be
reduced by 19%, or 800 million tons CO2-
equivalent. Similar study has been conducted
in India and estimates that 15% energy can be
saved in residential segment by switching to
R-32 over business-as-usual with R-410A.
The studies here are only taking into account
the shift of refrigerant and not the upgrade of
technology.
If you consider combination of R-32 with
advanced technology like inverter against non-
inverter or windows, the environmental impact
on our region can be even more significant!
