I write on behalf of the Central Ohio Network of the International Women’s and Insolvency Restructuring Confederation (“IWIRC”). Our colleague, friend, and one of the founders of our Network, Brenda Bowers passed away on March 15. I know you join me in keeping Brenda’s spouse, Susan Jenkins, her family and her friends in your thoughts.
Brenda was a vital part of our legal community, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional work. She was deeply committed to the practice of law, and excelled in her service to her clients, the court and the entire legal community. Brenda was active in not only through our organization, she also somehow found time to be active in her community, alma maters and church, all while enjoying being part of a close family. She seemed to find time to do it all. Read more here.

Many of you know that Brenda’s involvement in the legal community also included her commitment to providing law students an opportunity to learn about the practice of law, and that Brenda, together with Susan Rhiel, co-founded the Women in Business law program at the Mortiz College of Law at The Ohio State University. Brenda valued legal education, and in that spirit, our Network has joined with Brenda’s family to establish a legacy scholarship in Brenda’s memory at the university.
On behalf of our Network, I ask today if you would consider making a gift to support the Brenda K. Bowers Family Memorial Scholarship. Gifts of any size will make a difference, and create a scholarship that will help future students secure a legal education. It is also possible to make a multi year pledge to the fund. Our hope is that all of us together – family, friends and colleagues -supporting this legacy will create a meaningful way that Brenda can continue her impact on future generations of attorneys.
Checks can be made payable to The Ohio State University Foundation Fund #317024, and can be mailed to The Ohio State University Foundation, 1480 West Lane Avenue, Columbus, OH 43221. If you prefer an electronic payment via credit card, here is the secure link you can use: https://www.giveto.osu.edu/makeagift/, indicate fund #317024.
Thank you for your consideration, and your help in establishing a legacy to honor Brenda. Any questions regarding the scholarship should be directed to Susan Rhiel at (614) 269-7348.
Thanks,
Susan
