LATIN AMERICA NETWORK
On September 11th, IWIRC's executive board approved the creation of the new IWIRC Latin America network in which Patricia Cervantes Pérez was elected Director of Social Programs. This new network was created thanks to the effort of my colleagues and now members of the Latin America Board Nyana Abreu Miller, Leyza Blanco, Marlyn Narkis, Paola Montenegro, Susana Hidvegi Arango, Zulima González García, Beatriz Elizabeth Montoya Ramírez, Laura Alejandra González Santa Cruz, Iris María Guajardo Guerra and Sandra Trejo. Cathy Ta, Co-Chair of the Southern California Network, presented at the California Lawyers Association's 2020 Solo & Small Firm Summit on "10 Things Every Lawyer Should Know About Bankruptcy in the Age of COVID-19." She also joined Reorg Research, Inc. in October 2020, where she will be covering U.S. bankruptcy cases of interest as a distressed debt legal analyst.
Toni Vanderlaan (IWIRC Ontario Chair) and Maria Konyukhova, were recently invited to join the Insolvency Institute of Canada.
Nellwyn Voorhies was promoted to President of Donlin, Recano & Company, Inc. (Donlin Recano), an AST Company in New York.
Cheryl Wesler (Trustee Resource Group; Kalamazoo, MI) published an article in the fall 2020 NABT American Bankruptcy Trustee Journal titled "Pandemic Alters Net Operating Losses as Well as Other Tax Law Changes under the CARES Act.” Read the article here.
