Karyn Heavenrich started in the Atlanta office of McGuireWoods LLP in August. Her practice will continue to focus on all areas of insolvency and restructuring, with a particular focus on secured lender representation in both bankruptcy-related litigation and out-of-court workouts.

Brigid Leahy is now a Staff Attorney at Mayer Brown.

Jennifer B. Lyday recently joined Waldrep LLP as a partner. Founded by Thomas W. Waldrep, Jr., a former United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of North Carolina, Waldrep LLP offers clients experienced, efficient, and results-driven advocacy in disputes both inside and outside of bankruptcy.

Katharine L. Mayer, a longtime litigation partner at McCarter & English, has been appointed a Superior Court Commissioner and is sitting in New Castle County. Before taking the bench, she did debtor-creditor bankruptcy and restructuring work, along with product liability defense. She was sworn in July 11 for an initial four-year term on the bench.

Smitha Menon (WongPartnership) was nominated for the “Best in Insolvency and Restructuring Award” at the Asia Women in Business Law Awards organised by the Euromoney Legal Media Group.

Adine Momoh (Stinson Leonard Street, LLP) was selected by the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ) as a Blackshear Presidential Fellow for 2016. Momoh and three other 2016 fellows were honored at the NCBJ annual meeting in San Francisco on October 28, 2016. The Blackshear Fellowship is named after the Hon. Cornelius Blackshear, an esteemed former bankruptcy judge for the Southern District of New York. Blackshear Fellows are attorneys of color selected and recognized for their legal excellence in the practice of bankruptcy law, commitment to principles of civility, ethics and professionalism, and commitment to the continued educational development of bankruptcy professionals and to professional activities that will benefit the public, members of the bar and the court system. Momoh is an attorney at Stinson Leonard Street, LLP, practicing in the areas of creditors’ rights and bankruptcy law. She is a board member for the IWIRC Minnesota Network. In additional to her work in IWIRC, Momoh serves on numerous other boards, including Minnesota Philanthropy Partners, The Saint Paul Foundation, Minnesota Community Foundation, Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers, Federal Bar Association National Younger Lawyers Division, and the Federal Bar Association’s Minnesota Chapter.

Ashley S. Rusher (Blanco Tackabery & Matamoros, P.A.) was recently elected as Chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the North Carolina Bar Association for 2016-17.
