IWIRC eNewsletter August 2015 | Seite 10

In July, the IWIRC Georgia Network enjoyed a different type of networking. A group of members and their guests gathered at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta for a fun evening filled with cocktails at Table 1280, live music, and a specialized art tour. The docent focused on women in art, including Georgia folk artist Mattie Lou O'Kelley. The evening served as a nice reminder of the accomplishments of female artists.

Also in July, the IWIRC Georgia, Alabama, and Carolina Networks hosted a luncheon during the ABI’s 20th Annual Southeast Bankruptcy Workshop at Amelia Island. The luncheon was at Salt Restaurant inside the Ritz Carlton, and over 40 insolvency professionals and judges enjoyed delicious food and networking.

On August 22, the IWIRC Georgia Network teamed up with Habitat for Humanity for the Atlanta Women’s Build. It was a unique opportunity to engage with the community and IWIRC members by constructing a home for a working mother and her family. The Women’s Build allows the members of the IWIRC Georgia Network to empower women while serving a great cause.

Financial Advisors Panel – View from the Trenches

On June 9, 2015, the Greater Maryland Network held a panel discussing ways to optimize financial advisors during commercial bankruptcy proceedings. The panel, which included Lorie Beers (StormHarbour), Jovi Bohan (Stout Risius Ross, Inc.), Lyn Brown (L.E.W. Brown & Associates), Lisa Poulin (Deloitte CRG), and Angela Shortall (Protiviti), focused on cash collateral needs, DIP financing, substantive consolidation, plan feasibility, valuation issues, and recent case developments. Members and non-members enjoyed wine, food, and networking before and after the presentation and walked away with valuable knowledge and some wonderful networking connections. Thank you to the Baltimore office of Venable LLP for hosting the event.

IWIRC Georgia Network members and guests enjoy a tour of “women in the art” pieces at a unique networking event at the High Museum of Art Atlanta.
