LADIES Just for her GLASHÜTTE ORIGINAL PANOMATIC LUNA Glashütte Original has expanded its PanoMatic Luna collection, styled for feminine wrists, with a limited-edition 39.4mm steel watch studded with diamonds and rubies. On the watch’s white mother-of-pearl dial Glashütte Original places a curved moon in relief and a silver-colored starry night sky. As with so many watches made by Glashütte Original, the dial is of primary focus. Of course the firm’s in-house movements are handsome, with their traditional three-quarter plates, blued screws and characteristic Glashütte decorative finishes, but the company’s deep dial-making expertise (enhanced dramatically when it bought its primary dial maker several years ago) is second to none. As a result, the mother-of-pearl here is exceptionally rich, while the edges of every dial element–the changing crescent moon, the markers and the date– are all evenly raised and perfectly polished. The moon aperture, the namesake feature on these Luna models, is complemented to its left by eighteen very red ruby indexes framing the hours/minutes dial, itself set just above the running seconds subdial. Glashutte Original then sinks sixty-four diamonds into the bezel. Inside the fifty-piece limited edition is the in-house Caliber 90-12 automatic movement, visible through the sapphire caseback. This model’s very red Louisiana alligator leather strap, held with a pin buckle, matches the rubies on the dial, and all told offers a distinctive option if standard white, blue or brown straps aren’t dramatic enough for the wrist statement you’re trying to make. Price: $20,400. 58 | INTERNATIONAL WATCH | WINTER 2019 iWMAGAZINE .COM
